Send & receive money

Whether family sends money for your studies or you support them from Germany, a transfer app is usually cheaper and faster than a bank wire.

Supported countries, rates and fees change — always check the app. Some links may become partner links that support Academic Path Germany at no extra cost to you; this never changes our guidance.

Good to know

Look at the rate, not just the fee

A “zero fee” transfer can still cost more if the exchange rate is worse. Compare how much actually arrives.

Compare before every big transfer

Rates change daily. Check two apps before paying tuition or a blocked-account deposit.

Use your own name

Send from an account in your name — banks may hold transfers from unknown third parties.

Keep receipts

Save transfer confirmations; the embassy or your bank may ask where your money came from.

Next: open a German bank account or set up your blocked account.
